Academic Events-For the first ARC computers, Kathleen Booth designed the assembler and the assembly language. The University of London is where Kathleen attended and earned her doctorate in mathematics. She also spent the years 1946 to 1952 as a Junior Scientific Officer at the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough."
Accomplishments in computer science- Her husband assisted her in developing the first assembly language; he built the computers while Kathleen programmed them. The Birkbeck team led by Kathleen and Andrew Booth was regarded as the smallest of the pioneering British computer teams. They built the ARC (Automatic Relay Computer), SEC (Simple Electronic Computer), and APE(X)C from 1947 to 1953. (All-purpose Electronic computer.)
